Sayer Ji’s Epstein files reporting

Short answer

In January 2026 the Justice Department published nearly 3.5 million pages of Epstein records, with more than 2,000 videos and 180,000 images. Since February 2026 Sayer Ji has published a Substack series on what those documents show, each piece sourced to file numbers readers can check. The series became the book Shadow Empire: The Epstein Files.

The Substack series

Ji began reading the Justice Department release the day it opened and has reported on it since February, with each investigation tied to specific documents at justice.gov/epstein (Substack). His approach is documentary: he quotes the records, gives their federal Bates numbers, and separates what a document shows from what it does not.

The book

Shadow Empire: The Epstein Files runs 34 chapters and 552 pages. It traces the money, projects and relationships documented in the federal record, in the order they happened, with every claim footnoted to a specific document (Substack). Skyhorse Publishing is publishing it under the Children’s Health Defense imprint, with release listed for December 15, 2026 (ISBN 978-1-5107-8913-5) (Bulk Bookstore). Ji announced it in Washington on September 17, 2026 (Substack). The book’s site is shadowempirebook.com.

Its central argument

The book argues that in the records Epstein appears less as an isolated predator than as a coordinator across finance, philanthropy, science and state power: proposing structures, connecting people and discussing money for projects (Substack). Readers can test that argument against the cited documents, which are public.
